Which main risks does this insurance cover?

Medical expenses due to accident or acute (sudden) illness. It covers the costs of medical examinations, tests, purchased medicines prescribed by the doctor who carried out the examinations and/or tests, the costs of doctors’ fees, diagnosis and surgery, hospital stay costs and other costs related to outpatient and inpatient treatment;

Costs for emergency dental care . Covered expenses for removal of severe toothache or severe pain from an acute inflammatory process in the oral cavity resulting from an accident for which an accurate diagnosis can be made.

Expenses for the repatriation of the insured following an accident or acute (sudden) illness. The cost of repatriating (transporting) an insured who is undergoing in-patient treatment abroad to a hospital in the country of residence is covered if his/her state of health allows him/her to travel. The doctors of the Assistance Company are the only persons who have the right to decide when and how the repatriation is to be carried out.

Repatriation costs in the event of the insured person’s death due to an accident or acute (sudden) illness. The costs of transporting the insured’s remains from the place of death to a place in Bulgaria specified by the insured’s relatives are covered.

What is this type of insurance?

This is a voluntary insurance under which, in return for a premium paid, the Insurer undertakes, in case of an insured event covered under the terms of the insurance policy taken out, to indemnify the non-refundable expenses and amounts /paid in advance for a trip, should the trip be cancelled, interrupted, shortened or extended, up to the limits of the relevant cover. Trip cancellation insurance may be taken out in respect of an organised trip, air ticket or hotel accommodation purchased from/through a tour operator, travel agent or directly from a carrier or hotelier. The insurance must be taken out up to 7 working days after the date of the first payment (full or partial) related to the trip and provided that there are at least 10 days remaining until the start date of the trip.

What does the insurance cover?

Trip cancellation insurance is taken out on the insured sum agreed between the parties, which is the upper limit of the Insurer’s liability and serves as the basis for calculating the insurance benefits. The insurance shall cover accidents occurring due to medical or non-medical reasons beyond the Insured’s control and not foreseeable at the time of conclusion of the insurance. The risks covered are: “Accidental death for persons over 14 years of age”; “Trip cancellation due to medical or non-medical reasons”; “Trip curtailment or interruption due to medical or non-medical reasons”; “Trip prolongation due to force majeure”; “Flight delay”.
